Failed leadership in Harrisburg continues to preside over the decline of our Commonwealth:
- Crushed Economic Opportunity: U.S. News & World Report ranked Pennsylvania’s economy a dismal 47th in the nation, contributing to lower wages and fewer jobs despite abundant natural gas resources.
- Skyrocketing Health Insurance: PA Premiums have increased every year since the inception of Obamacare (2010) and continue to surge for families and small businesses in Pennsylvania as state officials impose costly mandates and subsidies that drive rates even higher.
- Soaring Electric Bills: Heavy-handed green energy mandates force our utilities to buy expensive out-of-state power, driving utility rates higher and higher for local households.
- Pain at the Pump: Pennsylvanians pay the nation’s third-highest fuel taxes, while state leaders refuse to offer even temporary relief for us at the pump.
Allegheny County continues to struggle under poor leadership:
- Allegheny County raised your property taxes by 36% last year, which means more of your money in their pockets, and very little to show for it. Higher property taxes means more and more businesses can no longer afford to do business in Allegheny County, and struggling families are struggling even more in the face of higher gas and grocery prices.
- The county workers’ pension fund faces a staggering $1.4 billion shortfall—a nearly unimaginable figure. The county failed to adequately fund its pension obligations. This is the consequence of decades of one-party rule and failed management. Now, instead of fixing the problem through responsible budgeting, county leaders are looking to taxpayers to cover the cost of their failures.
- County Council now wants the charter ban lifted so that the part-time members can receive personal staff, district offices, and fringe benefits at an estimated cost of $2.2 million for taxpayers. This is the initiative on the ballot this November, and can be defeated if you vote no!
